Introduction

Definition of Pure Iron: Iron-based materials with an iron content of not less than 99.50% and a carbon content of not more than 0.0218%.

According to the purity level (N representing the purity level of pure iron), pure iron can be classified as follows:

Industrial Pure Iron: purity 99.50-99.80%, 2N

Pure Iron: purity 99.90~99.94%, 3N

High-Purity Iron: purity 99.950~99.998%, 4N

Ultra-Pure Iron: purity 99.999~99.9999%, 5N-6N

22N-3N grade Industrial Pure Iron

Its purity ranges from 99.50% to 99.94%, and it can be industrially produced through pyrometallurgical processes. Pure iron exhibits soft texture, high toughness, and excellent electromagnetic properties. Primarily used in amorphous, electronic, rare earth permanent magnet, electromagnetic pure iron, new energy, high temperature, high strength, and other fields, it serves as the basic iron-based metal material in these sectors.

34N grade High-Purity Iron

High-purity iron serves as a crucial basic material for the preparation of high-performance functional materials, including magnetic materials and amorphous materials. It is a superior electromagnetic shielding material and a key raw material for the production of high-quality alloys, such as high-end special steel, high-temperature alloys, corrosion-resistant alloys, nuclear industry materials, and military steel. It is extensively utilized in high-end sectors such as energy, rail transportation, machinery, military equipment, aircraft, spacecraft, gas turbines, marine engineering, petrochemicals, and semiconductor chips.

Characteristics of 4N grade high-purity iron products:

As the purity of pure iron increases, its yield strength and tensile strength decrease, while the sensitivity of strength to strain rate increases. Grain coarsening significantly reduces the yield strength of 4N grade high-purity iron at low strain rates, with the yield strength of 4N4 coarse pure iron being only 58MPa.

Coarse grain size and low yield strength

The mechanical properties of 2N8, 3N5 pure iron and kilogram-grade 4N4 pure iron materials produced through industrialization were tested. The microstructures after annealing at different purities are shown in the figure, with average particle sizes being 2N8 (58um) = 3N5 (58um) < 4N4 pure iron (328um).

Excellent soft magnetic performance

Pure iron has been long utilized as a material for high-soft magnetic equipment, such as magnetic cores, owing to its excellent ductility, low strength and hardness, as well as high magnetic permeability. Impurities play a significant role in influencing the soft magnetic properties of pure iron.

Corrosion resistance of high-purity iron

After reaching high purity, pure iron is not easy to rust in humid air and is insoluble in hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, etc.
